18 – Never question the grammar

Most grammar freaks will agree on the fact that the first “s” in “Hells Angels” should be preceded by an apostrophe. After all, the name of the club implies that the bikers belong to hell, so the apostrophe would make that clear by creating a possessive adjective. However, the organisation only recognises one correct spelling, and has no plans of changing it.

The club stick to their own rules, which apply to grammar rules too. The online platform even shuts up anyone who questions this spelling, noting, “Yes, we know we’re missing an apostrophe, but you’re the ones who are missing it. We are not”. If you prefer to stay on the good side of the things, we don’t suggest disagreement.
