Jason Spots a Water Body

He saw a body of water out in his distant sight. As the aeroplane was descending, it immediately caught his attention. Instantaneously, he came to the realisation that he would be capable of landing on water with only a small margin for error.

He was under the impression that this was their best chance of being saved, given that if the plane attempted to land on the ground, it would almost likely end up crashing.
